Two months after finding a piece of the missing plane of Flight 370, a pilot claims he spotted a large object in the ocean.

According to CNN, an Air France pilot claims to have spotted a "large white object" while flying over the Indian Ocean. The claim was made on Tuesday morning, and the object was 43 miles off the coast of the island of Reunion. A plane and a ship were sent to the area, but no object was found.

"It must be a voluminous object for the pilot to see it," said Siva Vadivelou, assistant director of the French Civil Aviation Authority on Réunion island.

The Air France flight was nearing an altitude of 9,800 feet, and it would have been possible for the pilot to see the white object.

A couple of months ago, a flaperon was found on the island of Reunion. On closer inspection, it was determined it was a part of the missing flight.

On March 8, 2014, Flight 370 disappeared without a trace from Malaysia to China with 239 passengers and crew members on board.

Many investigators believe the plane went down in the Indian Ocean, and searchers have been focusing their attention on an area just west of Australia. They believe a bulk of the plane might be at the bottom of the ocean.

According to the International Business Times, German scientists involved in recovering plane debris concluded the barnacles discovered on the flaperon indicate the location of the plane is thousands of miles off course.

The search for Flight 370 is quickly becoming one of the most expensive searches in history. It is on track to cost over $100 million. The search has been going on for a year, and officials are no closer in finding the plane.
