Emmy Rossum has showed her fair share of skin on the Showtime hit Shameless, but the actress never feels uncomfortable.

Recently, Rossum, who plays Fiona Gallagher on the show, explained why being nude on Shameless, "but not as me," is not a problem for her.

"Being naked in character is very easy because it's just playing pretend," she told E! News. "You're someone else. You don't feel like yourself."

The 27-year-old is so comfortably disconnected from the nudity that she does not even feel the need to work out aggressively before filming sexy scenes.

"Not at all," she explained. "You got to be in character. You can't think about cellulite."

That does not mean that Rossum cannot exude sex appeal on her own. Recently, she was spotted in Soho House at the Bulgari Decades of Glamour party wearing a wrap dress by J. Mendel. The royal blue piece had a slit going up the middle of her legs and a daringly low neckline that made Rossum question a possible nip slip.

"I was a little nervous," she said while laughing. "I don't even want to sneeze. You might see my ovaries."

If you are hoping to look as good as Rossum does on and off the set, you may be out of luck as the actress does not follow a strict diet.

"Today, I ate French fries," she said in an interview with Natural Health magazine. "I try not to deprive myself, because when I do I'll eat a bunch of food really quickly in the corner of the kitchen and hope nobody notices. Because that means it doesn't count, right? Once I was at a photo shoot and the photographer was like, 'Are you gonna eat that piece of cake?' I said, 'Watch me.' I don't deal well with people who put restrictions on me. I get very rebellious. I'm from New York City. Don't tell me what I can and can't do!"

Season 4 of Shameless has proven to be one of the most dramatic and upsetting seasons yet. Even Rossum has a hard time dealing with the show's themes.

"It's getting real dark," she said. "Not much funny happening this year ... I can't leave it at work. I mean, I try to kind of shrug it off and shake it off in the car ride home, but it's never that easy."

Shameless airs on Showtime Sundays at 9 p.m. ET/PT. Rossum's interview with Natural Health is available now.
