This Friday, a bill that blocks funding for Planned Parenthood was approved through the House.

Republican leaders lobbied for this decision as it would affirm their stance against abortion as well as influence a government shutdown.

The bill was passed 241-187, on a nearly party-line vote. The de-funding also came about in response to videos showing the abortion provider's tissue harvesting practices. Anti-abortion activists covertly recorded a discussion that outlined how aborted fetus organ sales are proceeding.

"Anyone who watches those videos -- they are horrific," House GOP Leader Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., told Fox News. "Aborting live babies for profit -- why would anybody want to spend tax dollars for that?"

The first bill plans to de-fund the organization while the second plans to criminalize doctors who continue this procedure.

While activists accuse this of being illegal practice, Planned Parenthood officials claim that they've broken no laws, claiming the incident was misrepresented by edited recordings.

The Senate has yet to make a move on the issue and Democrats have greatly opposed the decision, with President Obama stating they are playing "a game of chicken with our economy that we cannot accept." The bill has also been accused of being a ploy to simply whip up conservative voters.

"Republicans are willing to risk women's lives just to score political points," said Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, D-Fla., who chairs the Democratic National Committee. "Enough is enough."

Planned Parenthood receives around $450 million yearly in federal payments, one-third of the organization's annual budget, and none is believed to be going into abortions. They also encompass 700 clinics, and, along with abortion, provide sexual disease testing and contraceptives.

"In the face of these videos, with all the alternatives women have for health, why would you want to force your constituents to pay for something so evil?" House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., argued in his debate.
