Andre Salamán Bautista, an Emmy-winning producer, has been charged with attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon.

The 36-year-old Colombian actor and producer, who was recently awarded a Daytime Emmy under the name Andre Bauth, pleaded not guilty on Monday, according to People.

Bautista turned himself in to the U.S. Embassy in Mexico City on Sept. 17. His bail was placed at $550,000, and his court date for a bail motion hearing is set for Sept. 24. If he is found guilty, Bautista could face a maximum of 13 years in state prison.

The producer was accused of allegedly stabbing his roommate with a kitchen knife in their Studio City home on Tuesday, Sept. 8. The altercation was fueled by a joke made about Bautista winning future Oscars.

Clayton Haymes, Bautista's roommate and the alleged victim involved in the incident, participated in an interview with KCBS-TV Channel 2.

"I was terrified for my life. I'm just happy to be alive," Haymes said.

The 23-year-old said when he returned home after enjoying a night out having dinner and drinks with friends, Bautista appeared declaring he would eventually win five Oscars, CBS reported.

"When he said 'five Oscars,' we all kind of laughed a little bit, and he got really upset," Haymes said.

Haymes, who says he's still recovering from the wound, claims Bautista chased him into another room with a knife, eventually stabbing him in the lung. After the incident, Bautista fled the home.

The producer and Haymes appeared in the film "El Landlord" together, which Bautista also produced. Bautista is Haymes' landlord in real life, as well as his manager.

"I just don't understand why he would want to do this to me 'cause we're friends," Haymes said.

Bautista recently took home the Daytime Emmy in the Outstanding New Approaches Drama Series category for his work on soap opera "The Bay."
