Last week Forbes published a comprehensive list of "The Happiest And Unhappiest Industries In 2014," which was compiled by the Irvine, Calif. based website CareerBliss. Some of the industries included were pretty surprising, while some were as expected.

CareerBliss compiled extensive data from 9,800 company reviews that its users currently or previously worked for. The users were asked to rate their happiness from one to five in eight categories, including: Person you work for, people you work with, work setting, support you get, rewards you receive, growth opportunities, company culture and the way you work.

To countdown the top five unhappiest industries to work for, CareerBliss reported that accommodation and food services ranked No. 5, which wasn't surprising. The list continued as follows with retail trade at fourth; real estate and rental and leasing at third; and wholesale trade as second.

The worst industry to work for, according to the CareerBliss list, is administrative and support, waste management and remediation services.

However, on the happiest side, with again not surprising, the motion picture and video industry ranked No. 5, while management of companies and enterprises ranked fourth and educational services ranked third.

The two happiest industries to work for were radio and television broadcasting at second and followed by software publishing at the No. 1 spot.

Software publishing received an overall grade of 4.014 based on those surveyed and got a 4.485 score in "people you work with" category.

For radio and television broadcasting, the surveys gave it an overall score of 3.978. The industry also scored a 4.441 in the "people you wok with" category and a 4.324 in the "person you work for" category.

Educational services scored a 3.954 rating, while the motion picture and video industries "way you work" category received the highest rating of its 21 professionals surveyed.
