Chris Brown may be barred from entering Australia over his history of domestic violence. The RnB singer is under fire among women's rights activists following his domestic assault charges in 2009 for beating then girlfriend Rihanna.

Breezy has four shows scheduled in Australia in December. These shows, according to Page Six, are in Perth, Sydney and Melbourne. However, Chris Brown may not be able to perform if the government denies him a visa out of the requests of the new Australian Minister for Women Michaelia Cash.

"I can assure you that the minister for immigration and border protection will be looking at this very, very seriously. I am clearly not going to pre-empt a decision by the minister, however, I can assure you what my strong recommendation would be," Cash said in a statement shared by The Guardian.

Cash was speaking alongside new Prime Minister of Australia Malcolm Turnbull during a news conference, during which they announced a new set of counter measures that could help tackle the problem of domestic violence in the country.

However, the decision on whether Brown should be granted visa to perform in Australia reportedly relies on Immigration Minister Peter Dutton. However, Cash stressed that she will do her best to convince Dutton that entry to the country should be allowed based on character grounds.

"People need to understand if you are going to commit domestic violence and then you want to travel around the world, there are going to be countries that say to you 'You cannot come in because you are not of the character we expect in Australia,' and certainly, without pre-empting the decision of the minister, I can assure you it is something that the minister is looking at," Cash added, according to the report from The Guardian.

The advocacy group GetUp has also started an online petition calling for Australia to stop Chris Brown from entering the country. Over 13 thousand people have already singed the agreement on the petition.

According to Page Six, Australia is not the only country that wants to bar Chris Brown. Britain, New Zealand and Canada have reportedly already refused him entry.

Australia has a strong stand against domestic violence. Floyd Mayweather, who is known to be a woman beater, was also denied visa into the country in February. His criminal record reportedly banned him from entering Australia after he was jailed in 2012 for physically assaulting his ex-wife in front of their children.
