Microsoft has been very generous about their backwards compatibility feature that fans commend them for allowing former Xbox 360 games to be integrated with Xbox One. This time around, Xbox is venturing on another feature that offers games with Gold Selections this coming month.

According to eurogamer, Microsoft has already listed "The Walking Dead Season One" by Telltale and "Valiant Hearts" as free games this October. Meanwhile, gamers who play using Xbox 360 will experience "The Walking Dead Season One" starting Oct.16 until Oct. 31. "Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes" will be released ahead and will be available from Oct.1 to 15.

"Valiant Hearts: The Great War" is valued at $14.99 whereas the "The Walking Dead" is valued at $24.99. Both games will be available for download at a limited time. This is why Gold members should seize the opportunity avail the free games.

Microsoft has been boosting their image with regular free games as well as their biggest venture yet — the backwards compatibility feature. Their counterpart, Sony, also releases free games every month for their fans with the added fun of letting gamers vote for the next free game they want for their consoles.

Sony's "Vote to Play" feature allows players to choose from five games released by Sony. The winning title will be featured on the next month's free games, the two remaining games will still be playable at a discounted price.

Games with Gold has previously and regularly given away free games to its fans, and the new batch of games for October has been highly anticipated because of the growing competition between rival platforms, Xbox and PlayStation.

Players with active Xbox Live Gold memberships can acquire the games for free. Free games are not applicable to trial memberships and "free gold" weekends. For every two titles made available for download, they separately cover the whole month, in which one title will be downloadable for the first 15 days of the month while the second title will be made available on the second part of the month.

Forbes recently posted trailers of the free games for Xbox Live Gold available this November. The videos aim to give information on the games' concepts and show what fans can expect of the games.
