Salma Hayek, Gwyneth Paltrow and Oprah Winfrey are all set to receive honors at Variety's upcoming Power of Women Event on Oct. 9.

The three women will be recognized, along with actress Anna Kendrick and YouTube boss Susan Wojcicki, as Lifetime Impact Honorees at the luncheon taking place in Beverly Hills, according to Variety. These specific women in the entertainment industry were chosen for their work inspiring change through charitable causes.

"The women we are honouring this year are the perfect embodiment of the Power of Women initiative," says Variety publisher Michelle Sobrino-Stearns. "We salute Salma Hayek Pinault, Anna Kendrick, Gwyneth Paltrow, Oprah Winfrey and YouTube CEO Susan Wojcicki for their incredible philanthropic work and their personal commitment to fostering change."

Hayek, 49, is being acknowledged for co-founding the women's rights initiative Chime for Change. Paltrow, 42, will be given praise for her involvement with food charity L.A. Kitchen. Winfrey, 61, has helped bring education to girls with her South African school and runs the Winfrey Leadership Academy Foundation.

Kendrick, 30, will be recognized for supporting youth suicide prevention group The Trevor Project, while Wojcicki has worked with literacy and equal rights group Room to Read.

Meanwhile, Hayek attended the Global Citizen Festival in New York on Saturday, Sept. 26. The festival's mission is to engage people around the world to help fight extreme poverty and inequality, while encouraging change to make life more sustainable for people and the planet. Some of the dire subjects touched upon during the festival were the conditions affecting Syrian refugees, emergency food aid and the necessity of toilets.

Other celebrities who showed up at the event included Susan Sarandon, Leonardo DiCaprio, Kerry Washington, Usher, U2's Bono, Stephen Colbert and Hugh Jackman. Musical acts to hit the stage included Ed Sheeran, Pearl Jam, Coldplay, Sting and Beyoncé.
