John Terry's demotion at Stamford Bridge has piqued the interest of several Chinese clubs, who are more than willing to afford the Chelsea legend with much-deserved playing time next season.

According to Mirror, the 34-year-old Chelsea captain was a huge hit in China when he went on an ambassadorial tour in Guangzhou last summer, following the club's magical Premier League championship campaign in 2014-15.

Since then, Terry has been receiving numerous offers from different Chinese clubs. Those with serious interests have even pressed the English defender on what he might have in mind in the event that he does leave Chelsea.

Terry's recent role as an unused substitute in Chelsea's 2-1 loss to Porto on Tuesday has only added fuel to the transfer talks.

Fans were ecstatic to see Terry emerging from the dugout before the Porto match. He went on the field and performed his usual warm-ups, which gave the crowd an inkling of belief that the Chelsea legend would see action against Julen Lopetegui's squad.

After Chelsea's loss and zero playing time for Terry, fans who made the trip to Porto from London could be heard chanting, "We want our captain back," Mail Online reported.

Jose Mourinho then reiterated that the squad are better off without their captain. Terry had been an unused substitute for four of Chelsea's last five matches. The demotion might have been an easier pill for fans to swallow if Chelsea has been on a winning streak or at least defending well.

In Porto, Rio Ferdinand admitted on television that the reigning Premier League champions were missing Terry's composure, leadership and organization.

Ferdinand claimed his former England international teammate still has a good chunk of quality football left in the tank. The former Leeds United captain even questioned Mourinho's motives for deciding to bench Terry so far in this season.

"I think he's a player and I think he's a leader," said Ferdinand via Daily Star. "In situations like this when the ship needs steering a little bit on the pitch when the manager can't be the man on the pitch, I think he is someone this team has always looked to. And I still think he's capable of doing that."

Interest for the Chelsea legend isn't just coming from China either. Turkish club Fenerbahce, who have also been linked to Mesut Ozil, are said to also be in the running for Terry once his contract with Chelsea expires next season.
