Kim Kardashian has expressed her surprise upon learning of her husband Kanye West's vie for presidency in 2020. However, while everyone thought the rapper could just be kidding about it, Kim tells Ellen DeGeneres that Kanye is serious about becoming president of the United States.

In a recent appearance on "The Ellen Show," the reality TV star tells DeGeneres that she did not know of Kanye's candidacy before he announced it on stage at the MTV Video Music Awards on Aug. 30. Kim adds that Kanye's running for U.S. President "wasn't a discussion" in their household.

"That was news to me. I don't know if that was planned and I just didn't know about it or if he, you know, came up with that idea right then and there," Kim tells Ellen in the video below.

Ellen suggests that maybe Kanye wasn't being serious about the candidacy. She asks Kim about it and the pregnant Kardashian replies that he is.

"I believe that he is serious," Kim tells Ellen. The 34-year-old pauses to think and adds, "You know if he puts his mind to something he'll do his best and he will."

Despite the fact that Kanye became a laughing stock for some internet trolls following his announcement, Kim still shared her support for her husband. She tells Ellen that "it's been fascinating just hearing all the conversations that's gone on" since the rapper's announcement. Kim also tells Ellen that she's just looking forward to what's to come and says that it "would be so much fun" to be at the White House.

Kanye announced his candidacy for the U.S. presidential race during his bizarre 12-minute acceptance speech at the VMAs, after he was given the Lifetime Achievement Award. He had the internet exploding with various hilarious memes after his announcement. Even his sisters-in-law Kylie Jenner and Khloe Kardashian shared their support for the rapper on social media.

Khloe shared a photo of Kanye looking professional in a suit and tie on her Twitter account and labeled the image, "Mr West For President." Kylie, on the other hand, shared an Instagram photo of a smiling Kanye. The photo shows the rapper dressed in a hooded shirt with his arms outstretched. Kylie did not caption the photo.

According to TMZ, Kanye's tirade at the VMAs caught the attention of MTV's big bosses and that they have it "on the table" to have him host next year's VMAs. A source claimed an MTV executive even complimented him on his speech.
