The release date for "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales", the fifth installment of the movie series, has been sailing through unfriendly waters since it was moved from 2015 to 2016. Deadline previously reported that "Pirates of Caribbean 5" was originally scheduled for a 2015 release but Disney executives have decided to delay it to 2016 to give the production crew enough to perfect the script.

However, KPopStarz reported a 2016 release still remains uncertain. Ian McShane, the veteran actor who played Blackbeard in "On Stranger Tides" commented, "They keep announcing and they keep putting it back." The actor was referring to Walt Disney Pictures' actions regarding the updates about the new "Pirates of the Caribbean" film.

As for the title's main character, Captain Jack Sparrow, Johnny Depp has been confirmed to reprise his role in the upcoming film. It seems Disney has finally warmed up to the famous pirate as Depp revealed the studio initially wanted to fire him during the production of the first film because they couldn't understand what he was trying to do with character.

In an article on Metro, the actor said, "They couldn't understand what I was doing. You know? To the point where Disney wanted to fire me. They didn't understand the character. They were actually contemplating subtitling the film."

In "Pirates of the Caribbean 5", Depp will be joined by Geoffrey Rush and Keith Richards, who will be returning for their respective roles as Barbosa and Captain Teague, Daily Mail reported.  However, his "On Stranger Tides" co-star, Penelope Cruz, who played the fiery Angelica Teach, might only make a cameo appearance instead of a starring role in the upcoming film.

"Dead Men Tell No Tales" will center on Captain Sparrow and his search for the Trident. The villain he will go up against is Captain Brand, a ghost who is also looking for the Trident so he can use it to exact his revenge on Jack.

"Inglorious Basterds" and "Django Unchained" star Christoph Waltz has expressed his interest in playing the role of Captain Brand.

Hopefully, the film's growing list of cast members and the release of plot details are clear signs that the "Dead Men Tell No Tales" will push through with its 2016 launch.
