The Democratic National Committee has announced that their inaugural debate will take place at the Wynn resort in Las Vegas on October 13, 2015.

Sponsored by CNN and the Nevada Democratic Party, the Anderson Cooper-moderated event will include Hillary Clinton, Bernie Sanders, Martin O'Malley, Jim Webb and Lincoln Chafee.

Clinton, who is confident enough in her public persona to have played a bartender opposite Kate McKinnon in last night’s episode of "Saturday Night Live," remains the democratic candidate to beat.

But Sanders, who the Huffington Post has reported recently brought in over 20,000 supporters to a rally in Boston, is certainly demonstrating a power to draw crowds.

The other candidates are long shots.

Chafee, the current Governor of Rhode Island, might be best known for defending the late Venezuelan leader Hugo Chavez, and for promoting peace in his rhetoric. According to CBS NEWS, Chafee chided U.S. foreign policy by saying, "Let's use the olive branch more often and not threaten war at every step."

Former Virginia Sen. Jim Webb, on the other hand, may become increasingly famous for gossip related to his temper. The Daily Beast reports that a new book written by former Pentagon official Chase Untermeyer portrays Webb as a chauvinistic brute who once came close to beating a ponytailed biker to death.

Not many voters know much about 52-year-old Martin O’Malley, and his campaign is placing the blame squarely on the shoulders of the DNC and their handling of the debate process. As reported in Time, O’Malley's adviser Bill Hyers said, “The schedule they have proposed does not give voters -- nationally, and especially in early states -- ample opportunity to hear from the Democratic candidates for President.”

“If anything, it seems geared toward limiting debate and facilitating a coronation, not promoting a robust debate and primary process,” he added.
