The Amazing Spider-Man 2 star Andrew Garfield was supposed to present at Sunday's Oscar Awards, so where was he? The answer depends on who you ask.

Garfield was supposed to present with Miles Scott, a 5-year-old Make-A-Wish Foundation kid. Miles, who was diagnosed with leukemia at 18 months of age, gained fame after saving San Francisco-turned-Gotham as Batkid.

According to New York Post, however, Garfield was not interested in swinging into the Academy Awards with Batkid.

"The academy was going to make him an official superhero during the Oscar ceremony," a "well-placed source" told the newspaper. "Andrew Garfield was going to appoint him 'Batkid.' But, in the middle of the dress rehearsal, Garfield decided he didn't like his lines."

New York Post reports that instead, producers sent Miles on a vacation to Disneyland.

"Garfield refused to go by the script. He came up with his own lines. The producers felt that Garfield's [rewrites] were not appropriate. Garfield had a tantrum. He stormed off. Miles and his family, who were at the rehearsal, were devastated," the source continued. "Garfield was such a spoiled brat that he didn't even want to be a presenter."

An Academy Awards spokesperson, on the other hand, has a different, less incriminating story.

"Due to the nature of a live show, hard decisions sometimes must be made which require the Academy to cut segments due to the logistics of production," the spokesperson told E! News in a statement. "Andrew Garfield understood that his segment had to be omitted, and he drove to Disneyland on Monday to spend time with 5-year-old Miles Scott (Batkid) and his family."

New York Post's claims are questionable as Natalie Scott, Miles's mother, told The International Business Times  that she has no idea what happened.

"I don't know if they ran out of time, or if there was something about the segment they didn't like," she said. "It got pulled so quickly that we didn't have a lot of insight into what was going on. It is kind of a disappointment, but things happen. I know that's how TV goes and how Hollywood is. We're just not used to that."

The Amazing Spider-Man 2, which co-stars Garfield's girlfriend Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy, hits theaters May 2.
