For some iPhone 6s users their experience with the new phone is not running so smooth. Owners of the new phone from Apple are reporting on web forums their iPhone 6s phones are randomly powering off.

The users who reported their phones crashing were all running the recently released operating system from Apple iOS 9. The phones will shutoff without warning during normal use, CNET reports.

Users with iOS 9 have used the Reddit iPhone forum, the Apple support forum and an Apple support forum on MacRumors to report the problem.

The problem occurs even when the battery is charged or even when the phone is left alone. Some users say that the home button becomes warm or even hot after the phone powers itself down without warning.

Most of the users experiencing the random shutdowns said they were using either an iPhone 6s or iPhone 6s Plus, the two newest phones released from Apple on Sept. 25. One user reported the same issue was happening to them on an iPhone 5s.

Some of the users have tried to troubleshoot the problem by upgrading to iOS 9.0.2 to see if that will prevent the problem from happening. They are waiting to see if that is a solution. Apple has not confirmed or commented on the issue.

iOS 9 first debuted on Sept. 19. When bugs were found in iOS 9, iOS 9.0.1 was released, followed quickly by iOS 9.0.2. There still could be bugs present inside the operating system.

Last year, when Apple released iOS 8 and found bugs, they released an update that contained even more bugs. Apple will want to fix as many bugs as they can so that users will feel confident in upgrading to new software.

Here is what some of the users are reporting:

"The screen was off, and the phone rang. The screen remained dark, but the ringing kept going, but couldn't be answered. The home button was EXTREMELY hot, and the only way to get the screen back on was to hard boot it (home and power buttons)."

"Happened to me at least twice so far, with no interaction. Just pulled phone out of pocket and it's dead. [Using a] iPhone 6s 128GB SG iOS 9.0.1. Haven't had it with 9.0.2, yet."

Users say they can power their phones back on by holding the home button and power button until the phone reboots itself. The error could be a result of the iOS 9 software, the new hardware inside the iPhone 6s or a combination of the two.
