In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, actress Adamari López has once again partnered with Procter & Gamble's Orgullosa program to promote awareness about the risks of breast cancer among Latinas.

According to a Business Wire press release, the actress, a breast cancer survivor herself, hopes that her partnership with the program will help inform high-risk Latinas about the disease.

Since her own battle with breast cancer began in 2005, the 10-year survivor has used her fame to help bring awareness and support the cause.

"Through my annual partnership with Orgullosa and Liga Contra el Cáncer, we are making true strides to create a positive and supportive dialogue for Latinas surrounding the importance of early breast cancer detection," López said. "I know this firsthand and feel truly inspired to use the Orgullosa platform to share my story and to motivate others to help us spread the word."

According to the American Cancer Society, Latinas are diagnosed with late-stage cancer at higher rates than non-Latinas. One Latina dies of breast cancer every 90 minutes in the United States.

Many Latinas are not aware of the dangers of the disease among their ethnic group because of issues like cultural stigmas, poor education and language barriers.

"With a social footprint of over one million Latinas, Orgullosa is empowering modern bicultural Latinas to help drive awareness of early detection by encouraging the women in their life to regularly self-exam their breasts and get a breast cancer exam as key actions to help them remain together," said Lindsey Erdahl, P&G Orgullosa communications manager.

In an exclusive video from TVyNovelas, the actress discussed what she hopes her efforts will bring to the cause. She also dished about her 7-month-old daughter and her possible return to telenovelas.

"I would love, probably, a small role in one of the Telemundo's fabulous super series, there is nothing on the table right now but hopefully soon," the actress said.

López also revealed that she and her fiancé Toni Costa have plans to wed but have not set a date.
