A police officer in Providence, Rhode Island, was not happy after a "rude" Dunkin Donuts employee left an antagonizing message on his coffee cup.

According to a Providence police union, the officer went to a Dunkin' Donuts restaurant in Providence Friday afternoon and purchased a cup of coffee, WPRI reports. However, the officer who bought the coffee said the employee serving him seemed "somewhat rude and appeared as though they did not want to serve the officer."

After he left the donut chain, he discovered that the worker wrote "#BlackLivesMatter" on his cup. He then reported the incident to the Providence police union.

In response, the Fraternal Order of Police called the incident "unacceptable and discouraging," while union member Lt. Roger Aspinall falsely accused the Black Lives Matter movement of condoning "violence against police," reports WLNE-TV.

The union also told WPRI that their officers are committed to protecting the public, and that they're not pleased with the Dunkin' employee's message.

"The negativity displayed by the #Blacklivesmatter organization towards police across this nation is creating a hostile environment that is not resolving any problems or issues, but making it worse for our communities," said the Executive Board of the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #3 in a statement, according to CBS Boston. "They are doing this by increasing tensions amongst police and the people they serve."

Following the incident, a Dunkin' Donuts spokesperson told WPRI in a statement that the chain is aware of the situation in Providence. The spokesperson also said the franchise owner has apologized to the cop and that the worker has been "counseled."

"Dunkin Donuts and our franchisees share a commitment to the well-being and fair treatment of all our guests," the statement read. "The franchise owner has apologized to the police officer on behalf of Dunkin Donuts, and he has counseled the employee about her behavior."
