Jon Jones could make his return to the Ultimate Fighting Championship octagon soon and it could be against reigning UFC light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier.

Cormier successfully defended his title after escaping with a split decision win against Alexander Gustafsson at UFC 192 on Saturday. Two judges scored the bout 49-46 and 48-47 in favor of Cormier, while the third judge score the showdown 48-47 in favor of Gustafsson.

Following the match, Jones hinted that he wants a rematch with Cormier, The Guardian reported. The former UFC light heavyweight champion posted a video on Instagram. It was already deleted, but Danny Segura was fast enough to get a copy of the video.

Jones could return to the Octagon soon after avoiding jail time after he pled guilty to leaving the scene of a hit-and-run accident in New York, which was also the reason why he was stripped off his title.

When asked about the possible rematch with Jones, Cormier also expressed interest in the second showdown. The reigning champion wants to avenge his lopsided loss to Jones during their first bout in January. There talks linking Cormier to retirement, but the 36-year-old assured that he will not end his career without a rematch with Jones.

"I got at least two fights that I would have to have before I would ever retire anyway," Cormier told MMA Hour. "The next fight when I beat Jones and then the third fight when him and I fight again. So, Jones and I will fight twice again. So until him and I fight two more times, I'm not going anywhere."

However, Cormier insisted that he will not agree to face Jones if the fight will be staged in New York.

"New York is probably the only place that he'll be welcomed without venomous anger," Cormier added via The Guardian. "This is where he's from, so they will actually care for him. Cheer for him. Why should I allow this guy to go and fight where he's comfortable?"

Ryan Bader is also being linked to a showdown with Cormier after he scored a unanimous decision victory against Rashad Evans during their light heavyweight fight, which was his fifth consecutive victory inside the Octagon.

Cormier said that Bader did a great job against Evans, but he cannot see himself depending his world title against any other fighter, insisting that his priority is getting a rematch with Jones.
