WWE U.S. champion John Cena is about to take some time off due to "personal reasons," as reported by F4WOnline. Apparently, the 15-time world champion asked for his short hiatus last summer and would be in effect after the Hell in a Cell event on Oct. 25 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, Calif.

Wrestling Inc adds that Cena's name has been removed from all WWE televised events and live shows until Dec. 30. The report also said that WWE already has their schedule released for November and the 38-year-old is not advertised for any shows in that month.

Also, the "Cenation" leader is supposed to be included in the company's European tour after Hell in a Cell. However, his name has also been removed from the tour, and it seems like he is really out for the rest of the year, probably until the Tribute to the Troops special before Christmas.

With the ratings for Monday Night Raw at an all-time low, the absence of Cena will be devastating for the ratings, and WWE seems to have no choice but push a new main eventer to the spotlight. Former WWE commentator Jim Ross said via his JRSBARBQ Blog, "Cena needs time to recharge his batteries and it forces WWE's hand to develop other, main event level stars of which they are dangerously thin on at the top of te roster."

According to Bryan Alvarez of The Wrestling Observer, Dean Ambrose will be the man to replace the U.S. champ. The Inquisitr reports that many people thought Cesaro or Randy Orton will be the man replacing Cena, but with "The Swiss Superstar" rumored to be in the WWE doghouse and "The Viper" being used too much, WWE management will opt for the former Shield member.

The WWE live events that are supposed to be headlined by Cena will now feature "The Lunatic," as per Wrestling Inc. The report also speculates that WWE officials are forced to finally push Ambrose to the main event after more than a year of putting over Seth Rollins and helping Roman Reigns.

Ambrose's last main event push was from May to June, when he played the main event for Payback, Elimination Chamber and Money in the Bank. He challenged the WWE World Heavyweight Championship in each match and was put great matches afterward but always ended up short, per Daily DDT.

Bleacher Report adds that it is the perfect time to elevate the Dean Ambrose character as fans are clearly behind him, especially when they teased his win during the Elimination Chamber event. Many fans have compared his persona to that of an antihero, much like Brian Pillman and "Stone Cold" Steve Austin.
