Ashley Judd has opened up about being sexually harassed by a well-known studio executive.

The 47-year-old actress shared her never-before-told story as part of the Variety Power of Women issue.

While Judd was working on the Paramount movie "Kiss the Girls" in the 1990s she said a mogul from a rival studio sexually harassed her. The man kept trying to lure her to come up to his hotel room and talk about movie roles. In time the situation became worse, as he tried to get Judd to watch him take a shower.

"In that moment, I told him something like, 'When I win an Academy Award in one of your movies.' He said, 'No, when you get nominated.' I said, 'No, no, when I win an Academy Award,'" Judd said.

"That was a small moment of power when I was able to contradict him and hold to my reality. And then I got out of there. And by the way, I've never been offered a movie by that studio. Ever."

Judd also spoke on how she internalized the shame she felt from this incident but eventually learned what happened was not her fault and stood up for herself.

"I beat myself up for a while," Judd said.

"This is another part of the process. We internalize the shame. It really belongs to the person who is the aggressor. And so later, when I was able to see what happened, I thought: Oh god, that's wrong. That's sexual harassment. That's illegal. I was really hard on myself because I didn't get out of it by saying, "OK motherf-er, I'm calling the police."

Judd can next be seen in the comedy "Good Kids," which is set to be released Aug. 4, 2016. She is also set to star in the drama thriller "Trafficked," now in post-production.
