Jennifer Lopez was announced early Wednesday as the host of the 2015 American Music Awards, set to air from Los Angeles on Nov. 22.

According to CBS, the gig will mark the first time the multitalented star has ever hosted an awards show.

In addition, Lopez is also slated to perform during the ABC-aired live telecast from the Microsoft Theater. The network adds Lopez's performance is set to serve as a lead-in for her upcoming "All I Have" Las Vegas residency at Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino, which commences soon after the new year.

"JLo is one of the most influential artists in music history, and the triple-threat will take on the role as host of a live broadcast award show," ABC and Dick Clark Productions executives said in a joint press release.

The 46-year-old Lopez will be replacing fellow Latino star Pitbull, who has hosted the award show for the last two years. Lopez performed the hit "Booty" with Iggy Azalea on last year's show.

The nominations for this year's awards will be announced by Joe Jonas and Charlie Puth on "Good Morning America" on Tuesday. Nominations in categories like pop/rock, rap/hip-hop, country, Latin and adult are largely based on "key fan interactions," such as album sales, tours and social media.

These days, Lopez is also busy shooting scenes for her new NBC mid-season drama series "Shades Of Blue in Manhattan." In the show, Lopez plays a cop and single mom who turns informant for the FBI's anti-corruption task force.

Marc Anthony's ex also serves as a producer for the series, which co-stars Ray Liotta, Drea de Matteo and Warren Kole. In addition, Lopez is also set to serve as one of the judges on the final season of the long-running reality show "American Idol."
