When Trevor Noah took over "The Daily Show," he told fans that nothing was going to change. So far he has made good on that promise and taken it just a stretch further with a segment featuring correspondent Jessica Williams giving Congress and gun rights advocates a healthy dose of reality in the most comical way possible.

Although Noah played a major role in the segment, it was Williams who stole the show with her mock "on location" reporting. The whole comedy bit was initially apparent when she referred to Noah as Jon, which indicated that the segment was taped before Noah came to the show.

The correspondent ended up coming out from behind the curtain and revealed to the audience she was not in fact on location in Oregon but rather had pre-taped the video to play as a "canned package" for every time a shooting occurs.

The segment did not poke fun at the tragedy but rather poked serious fun at the political response the country is prone to have when these kind of events take place.

According to Entertainment Weekly, she even outlined the stages of "mass-shooting grief" the country goes through when the mass-shootings happen.

"Stage one is the shooting. Stage two is national mourning... Three, president cries at podium. Four, a weekend of half-*ssed gun control debate in the media. And then finally we all go back to 'Keeping up with the Kardashians,'" Williams said in the segment.

The segment was topped off by the exchange between Williams and Noah where he seemed to be a little peeved that the tragedy was not being taken seriously and expounded on the fact the country needs to enact legislation for meaningful change.

That of course is what Williams was waiting for as she had her camera person record and playback what he just said, and that become his official "canned package" for the next time an event like that occurs.
