The Draft Biden super PAC released an emotionally gripping advertisement on Wednesday in effort to encourage Vice President Joe Biden to run in the 2016 presidential election.

The ad features soundbites from the commencement speech Biden delivered at Yale University earlier this year, where he talked about losing his first wife and daughter in a tragic car accident just weeks after he was elected to the Senate in 1972.

"The incredible bond I have with my children is the gift I'm not sure I would have had, had I not been through what I went through," says Biden in the ad while photos of his sons in the hospital are displayed. The VP goes on to say that the car accident made him a better parent and a stronger person. "But by focusing on my sons I found my redemption."

Another part in the 90-second ad, which is titled "My Redemption," shows images of Biden's son Beau, who died of brain cancer in late May at age 46.

"My dad's definition of success is when you look at your son and daughter and realize they turned out better than you," Biden said. "And they did."

The video closes with the words "Joe, run" appearing in white on a black screen.

The ad was first released on YouTube on Wednesday, but it will also broadcast on national television audience on Oct. 13, the day of the first 2016 Democratic debate, reports ABC News. The $250,000 ad will also air on CNN in the run-up to the debate.

Sarah Ford, a spokesperson for Draft Biden, said that they believe the vice president's personal story resonates with fellow Americans who have lost a loved one and those who are struggling to overcome hardship.

"This sort of story isn't just limited to those dealing with the grief of a loved one's death, but the incredible difficulties that everyday people face: unemployment, serious illness or debilitation, and so on," Ford said. "And all of us pull ourselves up, find hope and happiness in our support networks, in the promise of a better future, in the fact that we live in the greatest country in the world. The vice president's story is synonymous to so many Americans."

Biden has yet to announce whether or not he will jump into the 2016 race.
