Shout out to women of color! This time, Disney has a new princess coming and she will be the first ever Pacific Islander princess to sail soon.

Native Hawaiian Auli'i Cravalho bagged the opportunity to be cast in "Moana" as Moana Waialiki, a strong-willed 16-year-old Polynesian girl who is tasked to undergo a quest that her ancestors left unfinished.

According to People, like any other young girl, 14-year-old Auli'i dreamt of becoming a Disney princess, but she did not expect that her dream could be something to be granted real soon.

Without knowing she made an impact in the mind of an Hawaii casting director, Auli'i was tracked down and invited for an audition for the title character. Luckily, the casting director remembered her in an audition way before as she was a part of an acapella group.

However, when she finally took the chance to try for the audition, she admitted that she never thought she will get the spot.

"I didn't think I would have a chance," she told Forbes. "When I was little, I used to dance around the house singing at the top of my lungs. In my mind, that was performing and I loved the feeling of it. But I never imagined being in a Disney movie, being Moana — representing my culture in that way."

Casting director Osnat Shurer said that they decided to track down Auli'I because she had been fantastic during her acapella audition and even said she "was such a raw talent."

A lot of characteristics of Moana's can be seen in Auli'i. They are both fun, playful and mischievously witty; plus, it's a great factor that Auli'i is a native Hawai'ian so her exposure to Moana's culture is not a problem.

"She can project vulnerability, she doesn't seem intimidated at all by the challenges ahead, and her Polynesian background has helped shape her connection to family, hard work and music," director John Musker told Forbes.

Auli'i also told People that she loved Moana's character because the character exuded bravery and empowerment. The voice-over newbie also said that Moana is a girl that knows what she wants and is not afraid to get it.

Auli'i will star in "Moana" with Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson as the demi-god Maui. The story traces back 2,000 years ago in the South Pacific Islands with Auli'i embarking on a journey that is forbidden since no one in their tribe is allowed to go beyond the confines of the island.

The mouse house will release the computer-animated movie on Thanksgiving next year.
