Strong ratings and a dedicated audience give FX's "Tyrant" an official order for Season 3 on the cable network.

According to Deadline, the show opened up to strong ratings this summer on its June 2 premiere, and it continued to keep the numbers flowing in.

The series is something the FX network is typically known for airing, with its gritty themes and content that has a tendency to push the envelope a little to far, but still just low enough to keep the FCC off its back, given that it is a basic cable network.

The story itself centers around a man who flees his fictional middle-eastern homeland for a better life in America. The homeland had made news in the recent events of the series, being ravaged by war and inner turmoil that conflicts with ruling powers in the region.

The boy, who is now a man with a family, is named Bassam "Barry" Al-Fayeed. As it turns out, he is the youngest son of the country's leader and his role in the country could play to a major turnaround should he return. This of course is what the man did, and now that he has lifted his own self-imposed exile from the country, the series takes on a different theme as the country struggles to come out of the mess he thought he had left behind.

But being back in the country is not what he wanted, but he may have come to expect. The familial situation harkens back to the politics of his youth. He is also fully cultured as an American, and their two family's clash at the difference in cultures, which leads to even more unrest from within.

Given the series' high performance in the key demographic of adults 18-49, the show has been given a new season. There has been no word yet as to when it will premiere, but fans can assume it will be next summer, most likely in June.
