CBS has been swinging its axe in every direction for its summer shows, and now that axe has landed on sci-fi hit "Extant." But that does not mean Halle Berry is done with the network just yet.

According to Deadline, the cancelling of "Extant" is what CBS characterized as a fitting conclusion to the series that performed modestly, but not well enough to continue it for a Season 3.

In the beginning, the show had a big jump-start and was poised for some early success over at Steven Spielberg's Amblin TV. CBS gave it a straight to series order and there was every expectation that it would perform well with the summer audiences.

But it did not quite live up to its early hype. That was not enough for CBS to strike it down last year though, so they gave it a Season 2. The show nearly got a full on reboot, but with the same character. There were new leads placed a long side Berry on the show, but in the end, it was not enough. They could not find a bigger audience.

Glen Geller, president of CBS Entertainment, released a statement on the show.

"CBS, Halle Berry and the producers have decided to conclude the 'Extant' story after last season's exciting and fitting conclusion," Geller said. "'Extant' played an important role in expanding CBS' lineup of original scripted programming in the summer. We are proud of the show's success on the network, as well as its popularity on Amazon Prime Video. We also want to thank the incomparable Halle Berry for her commitment and support for the series and look forward to working with her on our next project together."

But Berry is not quite done with CBS just yet. The Oscar-winning actress has signed on to executive-produce a new drama for the network titled "Legalease."
