The premiere episode of the "X-Files" revival miniseries was aired for the first time at New York's Comic Con on Saturday and, as to be expected, the fan response was immensely positive.

This marked the first time that fans of the classic series got to see both David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson reprise their roles as Mulder and Scully since 2002. Showing it at this year's Comic-Con also allowed for the miniseries to cultivate new fans from a younger generation that may have been unfamiliar with the popular paranormal cop drama.

The pilot episode, titled "My Struggle," begins with reintroducing both the main characters as older and retired versions of themselves. Joel McHale's character, Tad O'Malley, is introduced, and serves as the glue that inevitably reunites the two detectives once again.

Every subtle nuance in the premiere that referenced the original show was applauded by the crowd and displayed the loyal fan base that the series still has to this day.

"I felt like the pencils got the biggest cheer of the night," David Duchovny joked to reporters after the screening.

"It's gratifying that people liked the show," he continued. "But I don't want to just trade on that. We didn't come back just to have six in-joke episodes."

The miniseries has only been scheduled for six episodes but with some demand from the fans and high ratings, we might be all able to expect a second season. Series creator Chris Carter attested to having an unlimited amount of ideas for what he could possibly do with the new revival series that would be adaptable to this age.

"Every time I open the paper, I see something that would be an interesting X-File," he said.

"X-Files" will premiere on Jan. 24, 2016 on Fox.
