A teaser for Episode 3 of "The Blacklist" Season 3 clearly shows that Red (James Spader) is done deflecting and will now focus his energy on the attack.

In the upcoming episode "Eli Matchett," Red and Elizabeth Keen (Megan Boone) take a detour toward the Midwest as part of their plan to clear Liz's name, while trying to take down the international shadow government group known as the "Cabal." In the process of trying to track down the fugitives, FBI agents stumble upon a potential global food crisis.

The last two episodes of the season have been centered on survival, with Liz trying to escape the FBI and Red pulling fast schemes to make sure she stays alive. "Today's the day we switch to offense," Red says in the clip, before getting a hold of some heavy weapons.

Moments later we get to hear one of Ray's dispassionately effective threats. “This is only the beginning, and I won’t stop until the only way forward is to exonerate Elizabeth Keen. Please, tell them I’m coming,” he says.

As reported in Flickering Myth, Spader, who was well known as a film actor long before he made his mid-career transition to the small screen, feels that the business of being an actor has changed across the board.

“It’s actually reverted quite a bit,” he says, “There was a time many, many years ago in the beginning of television where people who’d been working in film either came out of early television, some live television or theater, or actors who worked in television also worked on the stage.”

He admits he is confused about how one gets roles these days, saying, “I’ve been doing this for decades and I still have no idea how to operate within the business. I just read scripts and decide what I’m interested in doing.”

“The Blacklist” airs Thursdays on NBC.
