Selena Gomez admits she was more than just a little perturbed over her last breakup with on-again, off-again ex Justin Bieber.

To this day, the subject remains sensitive for the 23-year-old "Same Old Love" singer, who now finds herself feverishly working the circuit to promote her new album "Revival."

"I think people really wanted to see me fail," Gomez recently told Refinery 29. "Of course I got my heart broken. Of course I was pissed about it. There, everybody has it."

The persistently busy singer and actress also admits it was no great thrill waking up one morning to find all the talk about her blossoming career had given way to never-ending "tabloid" fodder targetting her for the relationship with Bieber.

Gomez hints she's now simply happy to have all the drama behind her.

"At this point, there is no anger," she said. "There's closure in a very good, healthy way."

Not long ago, there was even chatter that she and Bieber might be headed for yet another reconciliation, after they were spotted hanging out poolside together at a Beverly Hills hotel, where they were also observed packing on the PDA.

In one instance, Bieber was described as shirtless with a towel around his neck and wearing sunglasses, while Gomez had her hair up in a ponytail and was wearing a large black T-shirt that appeared like it could belong to the "Baby" singer.

Not long before then, Bieber had publicly vowed to win his ex-girlfriend back and insisted he was committed to making the necessary life changes to make that happen.

"Justin has his heart set on getting Selena back, everything is about her right now," a source said back then. "He's finally following through with the changes Selena has been asking for."
