In the upcoming episode of "Scandal," not only is President Fitz's (Tony Goldwyn) future in jeopardy, but his lover is being publicly crucified.

This season, “Scandal” got started with the much anticipated hook-up between the President and Olivia Pope (Kerry Washington). Now that the suppressed romance has been revealed, all hell has broken loose.

In a teaser for Episode 4 of Season 5, a furious Fitz is going through an angry check-list of all that has happened to Olivia since the news of their fling hit the media.

He stares at a newspaper and says, “Do you see what they’re calling her there .. and in every other newspaper in the world? Morning shows -- morning, when people’s kids are in the room -- gave estimates on how many men she’d slept with and at what age she’d lost her virginity.”

“Liv’s blindfolded on her knees before the firing squad and we’re doing nothing,” he says in frustration.

In the episode, which is called "Dog-Whistle Politics," Fitz will find out how just how supportive his supporters truly are.

Speaking to Glamour Magazine in July, Washington revealed her tendency to, on occasion, quit acting jobs when the roles seem pointless.

"I hadn't quite quit when I read 'Scandal,'” she said. “But I was feeling really unfulfilled as an actor."

Coming off as confident as her character, the 38-year old actress spoke of how important it is for her to keep voicing her opinions regarding politics and gender issues, regardless of the ramifications.

"I have to make sure that I don't silence myself about the things that I believe in,” she said. “For me, the commitment is to never be quiet just because I'm in the public eye."

The next episode of “Scandal” airs Oct. 15 on ABC.
