A new trailer has been released for the gritty new thriller drama "Outsiders," and it is exceptional to say the least. The series is an original from cable channel WGN in Chicago.

According to Deadline, the series takes on a very gritty tone and explores the lives of the men and their families who live off the grid in Appalachia. Although it has not been announced yet, the series could potentially hold a rating of TV-MA, judging by the looks of the trailer.

One thing that's for certain, the show is not something that adults would want to watch with their children. It is all about a clan of mountain men called the Farrell's and they have been living off the grid for quit some time.

The story takes shape when people come in and try to take their mountain from them. Although the clan has a more primitive means to defend themselves, they still employ ATV's and firepower in their arsenal.

In the trailer, it becomes quite clear that these men have had no easy lives, but they will defend their way of life to the bitter end. Their mountaintop has kept them safe for many generations, and in the end, if someone comes in and threatens to take what's theirs, they are going to rise up with deadly force and protect their land. That means they will do so by any means necessary.

The series features an ensemble cast including David Morse ("The Green Mile," "The Hurt Locker"), Joe Anderson, Thomas M. Wright, Ryan Hurst ("Sons of Anarchy"), Gillian Alexy, Kyle Gallner, Christina Jackson, Francie Swift and Phyllis Somerville.

The show is based off an original idea by playwright Peter Mattei.

Although there has been no official date set for its premiere, it is expected to come some time in 2016 on the cable network.
