Once Upon a Time has already tackled classic Disney princesses like Snow White, Cinderella and Sleeping Beauty. Disney, however, has gotten much more three-dimensional these days with modern female heroes in film's like 2012's Brave and 2013's Frozen. Is there room for Merida and Anna in the ABC drama?  

In the past, Once Upon a time creators Eddy Kitsis and Adam Horowitz have mentioned their interest in having Tiana from 2009's The Princess and the Frog in the show, but recently they added two more Disney princesses to their wish list.

"Obviously we'd be dying to do Frozen. We would love to [incorporate] Merida," Kitsis told D23. "And then there's favorites of ours like Mr. Toad. We haven't figured it out yet, but we love Mr. Toad."

"Whether we get to them or not, characters like Anna, Elsa and Merida feel like they could be slotted in," Kitsis added. "...Elsa would be fantastic for us."

But don't worry fairy tale fans; there are still plenty of classics left for Kitsis and Horowitz to put their spin on.

"We still haven't done Aladdin and Jasmine," Kitsis said.

"We mentioned before that we love Cruella De Vil," Horowitz said. "Pongo has appeared on the show."

Once Upon a Time had its midseason 3 premiere on Sunday and introduced a new Wizard of Oz theme featuring Rebecca Mader as the Wicked Witch. The theme, however, may not be as brand new as it seems.

"If you go back to the pilot, it's in there," Kitsis explained. "When Emma crashes the car and the book is flipping pages, you'll see flying monkeys. And you see it again in, I believe, the third episode of the series. We put the Oz mythology into the show at an early stage... We talked about [the glass slippers] in episode 205 when Rumpel[stiltskin] is making a deal with Jefferson [the Mad Hatter]."

The show creators also hinted at the possible returns of Sheriff Graham/The Huntsman (Jamie Dornan), Archie/Jiminy Cricket (Raphael Sbarge) and Ruby/Little Red Riding Hood (Meghan Ory).

Once Upon a Time airs Sundays at 8/7c.
