Actress Jennifer Lawrence does not usually speak her opinions on several highly criticized issues. But when she wrote an essay for Lena Dunham's "Lenny" newsletter about her wage gap from male actors, a lot of people rallied including other actresses, giving her thumbs up in shedding light to the issue.

Lawrence's essay on Lenny was just posted on Oct. 13, but it already gained so much attention from the public and other Hollywood celebrities. The essay titled "Why Do I Make Less Than My Male Co-Stars?" had many voicing out their opinions including "Crimson Peak" star Jessica Chastain.

At the recent "Crimson Peak" premiere, Chastain lauded Lawrence in speaking up regarding the issue.

"There's no reason why she should be doing a film with other actors and get paid less than her male co-stars," Chastain said as quoted by SALON. "It's completely unfair. It's not right. It's been happening for years and years and years. I think it's brave to talk about it. I think everyone should talk about it."

Apparently, Chastain is one with the "Hunger Games" actress, saying that "There's no reason why she should be doing a film with other actors and get paid less than her male co-stars."

"It's completely unfair. It's not right. It's been happening for years and years and years. I think it's brave to talk about it. I think everyone should talk about it," she adds.

"What I really appreciate is that it's not just women. It's men and women and all groups talking about how we need more diversity and more equality in American cinema," Chastain explains.

Indeed, men are also reacting to the issue, including  Lawrence's "American Hustle" co-star Bradley Cooper, who also praised her for speaking up even when it meant that she had to compare his salary to hers.

In an interview with E! News, Cooper said, "One thing I could say is that's interesting because if you think that you only deserve a certain amount and that's not correct, it's about changing that mindset and sticking up for yourself the way that Sienna did. So that's a great thing."

The issue surfaced when a Sony hack released the numbers that the actors of "American Hustle" gained. Business Insider reports that Lawrence and co-star Amy Adams revealed to have been offered seven percent of the film's proceeds while male actors like Christian Bale and Bradley Cooper were offered nine percent.
