Justin Bieber -- or, more specifically, his attorneys -- have bought him some extra time in his upcoming Miami trial for various charges: the trial date has been pushed to May !

Miami's ABC affiliate -- Local 10 -- is reporting that the Biebs -- who has just finished enjoying himself in Texas with his on-again, off-again squeeze Selena Gomez -- needs to present himself in a Miami court to begin trial on May 5. The delay came because of the news organizations and Bieber's attorneys wrestling with the issue of releasing his arrest videos and other sundries connected to the case.

Prosecutors also told the news outlet that no deal has been made -- or offered -- for the 20-year-old pop star, who has pled not guilty to all charges, including driving under the influence, resisting arrest, and possessing an invalid driver's license.

According to CBS News, the arrest initially took place on Jan. 23, when he and R&B singer Khalil Amir Sharieff illegally drag-raced with high end sports cars (including a Lamborghini). When the police pulled them over, marijuana and Xanax and alcohol were detected. And though his blood alcohol content was below the requirement for underage drivers, he was still arrested because he was under the influence of other drugs.

Bieber has had several run-ins with the law around the world before his first arrest in 2014. Bieber's tour buses were raided twice in 2013 in Detroit and Sweden while Bieber was not present; the raids turned up unspecified narcotics and a stun gun in the former incident and marijuana in the latter. In 2013, Bieber was charged in Brazil with vandalism.

Ultimately, only time -- and the trial -- will tell if Bieber is guilty or not, and if so, what punishment he will face. One thing's for sure: he'd better slow down before he earns himself a Leif Garrett reputation.
