Fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe have now gotten an answer to a burning question following that scene from "Avengers: Age of Ultron" where The Hulk was last seen flying off in a plane that crashed over the ocean. He will be alive and well and starring alongside Thor in his next solo feature, "Thor: Ragnarok."

As first reported by JoBlo, Mark Ruffalo will be reprising his role as Bruce Banner in the film, and the two will be working side-by-side to battle a new foe on a distant planet that has been confirmed not to be Asgard or Earth.

JoBlo theorizes that this could be the early stages for setting up the eagerly awaited Hulk standalone films, with "Planet Hulk" making a possible debut. But that is just a theory at this stage, and it is too early to tell either way.

But according to The Hollywood Reporter, the Hulk being in his own standalone films could be a sketchy situation. There are rights to be considered here, and the details are completely filled with twists and turns in regards to the rights owned by Universal and what Marvel has gotten back from the studio.

To sum this up, Universal still holds the distribution rights to the character. But Marvel has been able to bring him back under their own umbrella for team-up films, which is what has happened with the "Avengers" series of films. Bruce Banner also made an end credits cameo in "Iron Man 3," but that was not his own standalone film so they were within their parameters.

As for the next "Thor" film, Tom Hiddleston (Loki) will also be returning along with Jamie Alexander (Lady Sif). Taika Waititi has been brought on to direct the film, which is rapidly making its way through the pre-production phase to shoot for an anticipated Nov. 3, 2017 release date.
