If "How to Train Your Dragon" made you believe they actually existed, this time around, "How to Train Your Dragon 3" may eventually kill that mystical idea.

According to Movie News Guide, the latest installment of the movie franchise may finally bid goodbye to dragons. In a rare "How to Train Your Dragon 3" spoiler, Toothless and Hiccup may finally meet their destiny where they need to fight to survive. However, Toothless will meet his fate and die while Hiccup will continue to roam as an adult.

Director Dean DeBlois also confirmed the absence of dragons in the new sequel. "How to Train Your Dragon 3" will concentrate more on the older version of Hiccup reminiscing about the time when dragons actually co-exist with humans.

According to Movie Pilot, DeBlois acknowledged how the author of the novel series created the whole concept of the story, saying, "We're gonna take the story to where the book begin, which is Hiccup as an adult reflecting back on a time where there were dragons, suggesting that the dragons will in some way go away."

The main concern now is how the plot will take on the demise of the dragons. In fact, some dramatic event must occur in order to convince fans that the dragons are actually gone.

There are also a lot of questions on how will they go extinct. Will a major calamity kill them? Or will they resort into hiding for thousands of years before they come back as human enemies? Either way, the idea of dragons leaving may prove to be as heart-wrenching as that of the main reason they're gone. Toothless' fate, despite having no details on how he will die, also presents raw emotions for fans.

De Blois also confirmed the presence of Drago the villain on "How to Train Your Dragon 3." Intriguing as it may seem, there are still no details about his role, but DeBlois said, "You have to wait until the third film to actually see where Drago's character goes. He's a lot more complex than he's presented in this second installment ['How to Train Your Dragon 2']."

According to Venture Capitalist Post, it will still be a long time for fans to see the tear-jerking movie of humans and dragons. "How to Train Your Dragon 3" is set to open in theaters on June 29, 2018.
