The most recent software update for Apple's mobile gadgets proves to be much more troublesome that users bargained for. iOS 7.1 was launched on Monday, and within a week users have already began complaining of the software's shortcomings. Although the new program does have some benefits for users, the problems have taken front stage while the improvements remain in the dark.

According to the Huffington Post, users have been complaining of faster battery loss, Bluetooth connectivity issues, and spontaneous restarts. Users began noticing how, after they downloaded the new software, their phones died faster. A prevalent issue with smartphones, loss in battery life is not something users appreciate, especially when the new software is intended to be an upgrade.

Some of the upgrades available with iOS 7.1, however, can be very beneficial to a variety of people. According to MacWorld, this new upgrade addresses accessibility issues for low-vision users and even blind users. Apple has added button shapes, more contrast options, and has expanded some available options to allow for greater compatibility between the iPhone or iPad and the user. They can all be found by going to Settings > General > Accessibility.

Another improvement can be found in the VoiceOver capabilities, which reads what's on the screen for a user. Safari now reads the URL without having to tap it and apps announce when they have been updated.

Having been downloaded by more than 26 percent of Apple users, the upgrade's problems continue to be at the forefront. The Huffington Post gives some advice on how to fix some issues. Reinstalling the software from iTunes helps resolve some issues.

Although the upgrade was released less than a week ago, many users remain unhappy with its performance. Have you downloaded the upgrade? What do you think of it?
