For the fifth month in a row, the PlayStation 4 has taken the lead in the console war against Xbox One, making it all more likely for it to take over this holiday season.

Sony has plans of solidifying their place in the race with their recent PlayStation 4 price drop. Effective as of Oct. 9, consumers can now pick up a console bundle for the low price of $349.99 USD / $429.99 CAD, which would include the UNCHARTED: The Nathan Drake Collection.

Sony wrote this press release in absence of specific sales figures:

"As we kick off the holiday season, we would like to take a moment to thank fans for making PlayStation 4 the best-selling console and #1 in software sales in September. PlayStation 4 was the number one console for NBA 2K16, Madden NFL 16, Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, and FIFA 16. Including the highly successful limited edition console bundle, PS4 also led retail sales for Destiny: The Taken King."

It's also been recently reported that Walmart plans to host an exclusive Xbox One bundle deal similar to that of the PlayStation 4's. This would see the console priced at $349 and would include one of the following titles: Batman Arkham Knight, Battlefield Hardline, Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, The Witcher 3, The Elder Scrolls Online, Forza Horizon 2, Madden NFL 16, FIFA 16, Destiny: The Taken King, NBA 2K16, Forza 6, and Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. The date or time span of this exclusive Walmart deal has yet to be disclosed.

Xbox One's exclusive titles are expected to help even the odds this holiday season based on their rising popularity.

"This holiday Xbox One owners will enjoy the greatest games lineup in the industry and in Xbox history, led by Halo 5: Guardians, Rise of the Tomb Raider, Fallout 4, Call of Duty: Black Ops III, Star Wars Battlefront, and the ability to play Xbox 360 games," Microsoft's corporate VP of marketing, Mike Nichols stated. "Xbox One owners will have all this on the fastest, most social Xbox experience ever and with advanced hardware such as the Xbox Elite Wireless Controller. Xbox fans and first-time console buyers can look forward to an epic holiday!"
