Based on the latest datasheet from TENAA, the appropriately named Lenovo Vibe X3 Lite is expected to be the low-cost version of the unannounced Lenovo Vibe X3 smartphone, Mobile-dad reports.

The device's specs include a 5.5-inch 1080 x 1920 Full HD display, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of expandable storage space and an exceptional 3,300 mAh battery. Under the hood is MediaTeks's octa-core 1.3GHz CPU and Android 5.1 Lollipop OS. Externally, there's a 13-megapixel rear camera and a five-megapixel front-facing unit, which is well-suited for selfies and video chats.

The Lenovo Vibe X3 Lite is shown to be 153 mm in length with a width of 76 mm and thickness of 8.7 mm. It supports 4G connectivity and comes with a fingerprint scanner just under its rear camera. Color options include black, white, silver and gold.

The device is also called the Lenovo Lemon X3 Lite. Pricing is estimated to be around $141, considering that the device will allegedly have a ¥899 price tag in China.

If rumors regarding the Lenovo Vibe X3 Lite turn out to be legit, the device will be added to the ballooning statistics of budget smartphones from China rocking a fingerprint scanner. The feature has just made its way to low- and mid-tier offerings while high-end devices from premium mobile makers have already been seeded with the technology since last year.

Jumping into the bandwagon is Xiaomi. The upcoming Xiaomi Mi5 has been heavily teased over the past few weeks as the company's first crack at the fingerprint scanning technology.

According to an insider from Weibo as relayed by WCCF Tech, Xiaomi won't be needing any third-party help in fitting the feature on the Mi5. Instead, the Chinese mobile maker will be using its own version of the technology.

Rumors regarding the Mi5's support for a fingerprint scanner first saw the light of day last month, after Tech Zoom shared a leaked promotional ad for the Mi5. GSM Arena adjusted the ad's color to reveal a fingerprint design on the base of the image.

As trivial as the reveal seemed, it did suggest that Xiaomi is more than ready to adapt to the latest mobile trends.

For good measure, here are the specs of the Mi5, courtesy of Xiaomi Today:

  • 5.3-inch Quad HD (1440x2560) display with 554ppi pixel density
  • 4GB of RAM
  • 16GB or 64GB non-expandable storage
  • 16-megapixel back camera with dual-LED flash and eight-megapixel front-facing unit
  • 3,030 mAh battery
  • USB Type-C connector
  • MIUI 7 OS (Android-based)

The Mi5 will retail in China for ¥1,999 or approximately $316.
