"Suicide Squad" is already being touted as one of the biggest films of the upcoming year, and, every so often, snippets of new details emerge that confirm the hype surrounding the movie.

According to a report from Comic Book Movie, the latest issue of Empire Magazine offered an intriguing glimpse of the characters in the upcoming DC ensemble film. Newly released images of the iconic characters give shape to the upcoming comic book film that has been making headlines for its stellar cast and introducing an anti-hero superhuman group.

From Harley Quinn interrogating the Joker to background stills of Deadpool and Enchantress, the published photos capture the dark and sinister tone of the "Suicide Squad" film adaptation. It's a new kind of superhero, and it's likely not the good kind.

Another report from Comic Book Movie revealed that David Ayer summed up the new film's ethos succinctly, "[Expletive] good versus evil. Bad versus evil is a lot more interesting."

He added, "And Amanda Waller is the worst there is."

Actress Viola Davis, who will play the character, agrees with the statement and expounded on the complicated villain in the interview.

"She's relentless in her villainy," Davis explained. "When you look at her, there's nothing that seems dangerous. Her only power is her intelligence and her complete lack of guilt. I read a great book called 'Confessions of a Sociopath', which was frightening but very helpful..."

The new issue of Empire Magazine also revealed more about the mythical warrior Katana, according to a report from Cinema Blend. The magazine included snippets of dialogue from the movie such as Joel Kinnaman's Rick Flag warning the team about his recruit Katana.

"She's got my back," Flag stated. "I'd advise not getting killed by her — her sword traps the souls of its victims."

An impressive cast will bring "Suicide Squad" to life in the big screen including Davis, Kinnaman, Will Smith as Deadpool, Jared Leto as the Joker, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Cara Delevingne as the Enchantress, Jai Courtney as Captain Boomerang and more.

The all-star cast is expected to deliver eclectic and memorable performances, particularly Leto who his co-star Smith recently praised for his method acting techniques on Beats 1 Radio.

Smith explained, "[Suicide Squad] is insane. I've never actually met Jared Leto. We worked together for 6 months and we've never exchanged a word outside of 'Action!' and 'Cut!' ... He was all in on the Joker."

"Suicide Squad" launches in theaters on Aug. 5, 2016.
