The rumor mills have been abuzz lately over suspected Samsung Galaxy A3 and A7 sequels that were recently subjected to the GFXBench benchmark test.

The listings, which were first discovered by Napidroid, didn't actually state the handsets' names. But with build numbers like SM-A310 and SM-A710, who wouldn't suspect it to be the second-generation A3 and A7?

Samsung is said to be updating its Galaxy A series soon, and thanks to the benchmark results, we now have a rough idea on what to expect.

The possible Galaxy A3 sequel sports a 4.7-inch 720 x 1280 touchscreen display, 1.5GB of RAM and 16GB of storage space. Under the hood, there's Samsung's very own quad-core Exynos 7580 processor complete with the Mali-T720 GPU. The device is flanked by a 13-megapixel rear camera and a decent five-megapixel front-facing unit. Android 5.1.1 is its built-in OS.

Meanwhile, the rumored second-generation Galaxy A7 tows a bigger 5.5-inch 1080 x 1920 screen, Qualcomm's octa-core Snapdragon 615 SoC with the Adreno 405 GPU, 3GB of RAM and 16GB of storage space. SM-A710 has the same pre-installed OS and camera combo as SM-A310.

Just last week, Phone Arena reported of an SM-A310F and SM-A510F listed on India's import and export tracking website Zauba. The rumored Galaxy A3 sequel was listed as having a 4.7-inch display while the possible Galaxy A5 had a 5.2-inch display. The listing also indicated that both handsets originated from South Korea.

There hasn't been official word from Samsung regarding plans to update its Galaxy A series, but with the onset of these leaks, the devices might just be destined for an early 2016 release.

In other Samsung Galaxy news, the Korean tech giant is said to be releasing another limited edition Avengers-inspired Galaxy S6 Edge+.

Externally, the handset has a 16-megapixel rear-facing unit and a five-megapixel selfie snapper. The Galaxy S6 Edge+ runs on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop coated with Samsung's TouchWiz UI.
