When it comes to Cristiano Ronaldo returning to the Premier League or leaving Real Madrid, the rumor mill never stops. Jose Semedo, a former teammate of CR7 during his time at Sporting Lisbon, is the latest to turn the vanes.

It was during an interview with talkSPORT that Semedo made his prediction about Ronaldo's future.

"He is very happy at Real Madrid [but] he loves English football, he loves English people, and deep down I think he will come back to England because it doesn't look like he wants to finish his career without getting back to England," he stated.

So why should anyone believe Semedo?

It turns out that the two are in fact very close friends, so Semedo might have a strong sense of where his fellow Portuguese superstar wants.

This is not the last time that we hear about Ronaldo returning to the Premier League until he either does or retires.

The question of course is whether he really would trade Real Madrid and the potential to win trophies every year for a more unstable situation in England.

Manchester United is likely the club he elects for a return, but Ronaldo would not be returning to the fatherly graces of Sir Alex Ferguson. Instead, at least for now, it would be the more polarizing Louis van Gaal who has had conflicts with a number of major superstars during his tenure at United. Angel Di Maria was sent packing as a result of issues with van Gaal. The same happened for Robin van Persie, despite the fact that both worked together at the World Cup in Brazil.

Ronaldo is used to getting his way. As it stands, the superstar is exempt from Rafa Benitez's rotation policy at Real Madrid (to this point anyways) and has been allowed to keep his position on the left wing despite not contributing much defensively or being the dribbling machine of years past.

So how would he work for a man who has stated that everyone must earn his spot?

It will be interesting to see how or if this even develops. It would likely cost a lot of money to buy Ronaldo from Madrid and rumor has it that only Paris Saint-Germain is willing to pay the fee.
