Now that week one of Dancing With the Stars is complete, the show's newest competing stars have had the chance to reflect on the competition. Recently, contestants James Maslow and Drew Carey opened up about how they really feel about being on stage.

Maslow, a Big Time Rush star, is happy about his performance.

"I feel pretty good about last night! I couldn't foxtrot two weeks ago and I look back on last night's performance and it looks like we knew how to foxtrot," he wrote on his Parade blog.

Carey found trouble with the technical side of dancing.

"All the technical stuff [is the hardest]," he told Access Hollywood. "It's like soap opera land. I don't know how soap opera stars do it! It's like getting a new script every day and having to memorize this new script."

One issue Maslow had was how his relationship with partner Peta Murgatroyd, with whom he previously went on "several dates" according to E! News, was portrayed.

"...we expected the producers to mention it in the video to a point, but we hadn't seen what they put together until right before we were prepping to do our dance," Maslow wrote. "They definitely exaggerated at parts to make it sound like we've got this great big dating history that we're hiding, but we don't. "

On Monday's episode, Carey will tackle the jive.

"There are a lot of steps, man, and I'm not really smooth in my hips like I thought I was," he said. "You find out that you're not as cool as you thought you were when you start doing this show, that's for sure!"

Meanwhile, Maslow will get saucy with the salsa.

"...I think the salsa is cool and I'm excited to do the second dance and do something different than the foxtrot," he wrote. "I'm so sick of frame! I started to appreciate it more than ever. My back is sore, let's do something that's not as upper-body demanding."
