Author Stephenie Meyer, who wrote the mega-hit book franchise and subsequent film franchise "Twilight," is now taking her talents to TV in a new deal she secured with Lionsgate.

According to Deadline, the author and successful businesswoman has now taken another novel, "The Rook," and successfully positioned it for a TV adaptation. The book was actually written by author Daniel O'Malley, who plans to release a followup to that novel soon titled "Stiletto."

"The Rook" is a supernatural tale featuring a strong female protagonist named Myfanwy Thomas, who is based in the U.K. The story follows Thomas as she works for a covert, mysterious government agency within the U.K. that has a rather unique mission, essentially protecting the public from supernatural powers and entities that might threaten the human population.

Meyer will be serving as an executive producer for the series, partnering with Lionsgate to bring the show to fruition. The series will be distributed on Hulu as an exclusive original for the streaming platform.

There are many ways that this series could progress, but the story will remain centered around Thomas, who is deeply embedded in all aspects of the agency's mission. Although there have been many novels with the same general supernatural premise, the story is unique for its combination of British covert style and the paranormal realm.

Meyer is most well known for her four "Twilight" novels, which were immortalized in a series of five films, with the final novel broken up into two movies. The film franchise grossed Lionsgate over $3.3 billion worldwide.

"The Rook" has been ordered for a first season run on Hulu, but no details have been released yet as to when production on the series will start or when it will premiere online.
