Jessica Paré has wowed fans as Megan Draper on AMC's Mad Men. The actress, however, almost threw in the towel thanks to immigration issues. Recently, Paré stripped down in more ways than one for an interview with Esquire.

Paré moved to Los Angeles in 2004 to star in Jack & Bobby, a show on The WB. Unfortunately, the show lasted just one season, leaving Montreal native Paré in a sticky situation. She applied for a green card, but the process wasn't smooth.

"I really struggled," she told the magazine. "...what was supposed to take three months took nine. I couldn't work or travel, and any momentum that I had gained from Jack & Bobby just dissipated."

Hope would come, however, in the form of a secretary role on Mad Men.

"I was ready to move back to my parents' place, ready to get a job at my friend's bar back home and just pack it in," Paré continued. "I had nothing left to lose. I went into the audition thinking, This is it. If you don't like it, that's fine. Nobody else has."

Paré presumably killed the audition and landed herself a four-episode deal. Once her character had sex with Don Draper (Jon Hamm), many assumed her character would be written off the show; even "crewmembers ... said goodbye," Esquire reports. Megan, however, became a fan favorite and is now a show regular as Draper's wife.

And regarding those famous teeth, which is one of the terms most searched with Paré's name, the star doesn't seem to care that they are less than perfect.

"You can't get a lot of sh*t stuck in these teeth," she joked

That's not the only surprising part of Paré's interview. The 33-year-old actress also participated in a sexy photo shoot for the magazine. You can check out more pictures here, and the issue is on newsstands now.

Season 7 of Mad Men premieres April 13 at 10 p.m. and will be divided into two parts. The first seven episodes have been dubbed "The Beginning," and the second half of the season, which begins spring 2015, is "The End of an Era."
