Actor Paul Bettany recently spoke to the press about his role in the upcoming "Captain America" movie, describing the emotions that will drive his character, Vision.

Despite a great deal of buzz circulating around the hotly anticipated "Captain America: Civil War," little information had previously been revealed about Vision's role in the film.

"I think he's very interested in what it means to be human and what love is. The only way one can guarantee one's loyalty is love," Bettany said, according to Collider. "Loyalty is beyond logic, really. Logic doesn't really provide for loyalty. If your logic changes suddenly and things [don't] make sense, you can alter your allegiance, but love stops you from being able to do that."

The character was a Deus Ex Machina of sorts in the recent "Avengers: Age of Ultron," coming into the story to help the team of superheroes overcome the villain. Thus far, Vision's role in the upcoming film remained a mystery, especially with other major characters taking most of the spotlight in the months leading up to the release next May.

It is known that Vision will be paired up with Iron Man in the war between the superheroes.

Bettany also talked about the differences between working with Joss Whedon on "Avengers" and Joe and Anthony Russo in the upcoming film.

"They both have a really different approach. I loved working with all three of them. The really great thing with a cast that big is that you have two directors," he noted. "You can always get one of them to have a chat with about what's coming up next, and that's great. I'm really excited to see what they do with what we shot."

"Captain America: Civil War" hits cinemas on May 6, 2016. The film's next trailer is set to be unveiled during the screenings of "Star Wars: The Force Awakens."
