Motorola has announced that it will be launching three Moto X Pure Edition smartphones designed by New York-based craftsman Jonathan Adler. The new collection is said to capture "the spirit" of Moto Maker, the company's online design studio that lets users customize devices to their heart's content.

According to the company's official blog site, the three Moto X Pure Edition smartphones will be available for pre-order beginning Nov. 24. Shipment will then arrive on Dec. 3, the same day the handsets will go out on sale.

Each will be fitted with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of native storage costing $474.99. That's the same price for a custom designed Moto X Pure Edition smartphone with leather or wood back casing. However, it's still unclear if the new collection uses the same leather or wood materials. What is certain, though, is that the different designs, which you can view here, cannot be replicated in Moto Maker.

Apart from their appearances, each handset has the same innards as the Moto X Pure Edition that has been available in stores since September 2015.

Interested takers will get the same 5.7-inch 1440 x 2560 resolution screen coupled with Qualcomm's six-core Snapdragon 808 chipset. There's a 21-megapixel rear camera and a five-megapixel front-facing unit. The Moto X Pure runs Android Lollipop at the moment, but Motorola announced that it's going to be updated to Android 6.0 Marshmallow very soon.

Motorola Mobility software product director David Schuster listed the patch notes of the upcoming firmware update on his official Google+ account.

Android 6.0 brings new features like Doze and Google Now on Tap. The former is an all-new battery management app that can sense if the device is not in use, putting it in deep sleep mode in the process. On the other hand, the latter is responsible for delivering contextual information on the screen when users tap the home button to a certain extent.

There's also a capability called App Standby. It optimizes power usage by turning off seldom used apps. Users themselves can decide what apps will put on deep sleep mode.

For the time being, only T-Mobile's version of the Moto X Pure Edition has been reported to receive the Android 6.0 update. Furthermore, the firmware will roll out for T-Mobile subscribers as an OTA, meaning some might get it earlier than others, depending on the region.

The Moto X Pure Edition that retails in the U.S. is known as the Moto X Style elsewhere in the world. The Moto X Style sold in India and Brazil has already been receiving the Android 6.0 update since last week.
