The second trailer for X-Men: Days of Future Past has been released and most fans agree... it looks like the X-men movie everyone's been waiting for.

"So many battles waged over the years, and yet none of them like this," says Patrick Stewart as Professor Charles Xavier. The trailer opens up with a sweep over a derelict cityscape, accompanied by the professor's woeful voiceover. Dark, humanoid figures- presumed to be the mutant hunters known as Sentinels- descend from skies. The trailer cuts at one point before one of the creepy androids sneaks up to stab Halle Berry's Storm from behind.

"Are we destined to destroy each other?" ponders Professor X, "Or can we change who we are and unite? Is the future truly set?"

Of course it isn't. Somehow Professor X and his long time friend-turned-enemy Magneto (Ian McKellen) are able to send Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) to the past to prevent this terrible future from occurring. There he meets Magneto and the professor's past selves, played by Michael Fassbender and James McAvoy, as he tries to get them to put aside their differences and change the course of history.

"It's going to take the two of us," future Magneto says. "Side by side at the time when we couldn't be further apart."

The trailer also features what looks to be some awesome action sequences, including a battle involving old favorites like Iceman and Colossus, along with a few newbies, such as Blink and Sunspot. Many were delighted to get a glimpse of Shawn Ashmore's Iceman in his full frozen form, something comic books fans have been wishing to see for a while.

Days of Future Past is the first time Bryan Singer will be directly an X-men movie since the franchise's critically praised second film, X2. It seemed a huge task, as Singer had to combine the storylines of Matthew Vaughn's prequel First Class with the original trilogy. However, if the trailer is any indication, he may have a success on his hands.

X-Men: Days of Future Past hits theaters on May 23. Excited? Let us know in the comment section below.
