GOP presidential hopeful Donald Trump says that he saw thousands of Muslims in New Jersey cheering on the 9/11 attacks despite police officers dismissing those rumors in the past.

"Hey, I watched when the World Trade Center came tumbling down. And I watched in Jersey City, New Jersey, where thousands and thousands of people were cheering as that building was coming down. Thousands of people were cheering," Trump said during his latest rally.

The business mogul insists that he saw people cheering on the attacks on television with his own eyes.

"There were people that were cheering on the other side of New Jersey, where you have large Arab populations," he said. "They were cheering as the World Trade Center came down."

Trump went on to say that it actually happened, but that media outlets are not talking about it because it is not "politically correct" to talk about.

"There were people over in New Jersey that were watching it, a heavy Arab population, that were cheering as the buildings came down," he insisted.

Trump is known for his outlandish remarks when it comes to Muslims and Latino immigrants in the United States. Yet, he continues to soar in the polls while retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson is tumbling behind him. No other Republican candidate is reaching Trump's numbers as of yet.

The business mogul received 28 percent of the vote in a recent NBC 2016 Republican presidential poll. Carson and Senator Ted Cruz only received 18 percent, while Senator Marco Rubio received 11 percent. No other Republican candidate reached the double digits.
