The much-anticipated proposed Saul "Canelo" Alvarez vs. Gennady Golovkin showdown does not just excite boxing fans, but the world class trainer Freddie Roach as well, who expects fireworks from it.

Roach, the veteran boxing coach, imagines that the Canelo-Golovkin battle will be something the fans will love to witness as it involves two great boxers, Boxing Scene reports.

"That's a great fight. You got two tough guys, two really strong guys. Both guys can punch very well. I'd like to see that fight," says Roach.

Roach humbled himself to admit that he saw the great improvement on the 25-year-old Mexican boxer when he triumphed against his own fighter, the 35-year-old Puerto Rican warrior Miguel Cotto.

"He was more than I expected. I think he's improved a lot. I think he's become a better fighter. He's a young kid coming. I think from his last fight he looked better in this fight. Again, him and Triple G - I'd love to see that fight," Roach said.

With this win via a unanimous decision on Nov. 21 at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, "Canelo" was able to capture the vacant World Boxing Council middleweight championship title, which formerly belonged to Cotto. Cotto revealed on Boxing Scene that he was stripped off of the title after failing to pay a total of $1.1 million for sanctioning and set aside fees for mandatory challenger Golovkin.

Thus, Alvarez did not just gain a champion status that fateful night, but he was able to earn the respect of his opponent's coach.

Roach earlier commented that "Canelo" was not very dedicated as evident from training sessions he failed to attend at his Wild Card West gym in the past, the Boxing Scene noted.

The trainer even called Alvarez a "pretty boy" but stated that it "doesn't mean he's a good fighter," Boxing Scene informed.

Roach reportedly believed Cotto could defeat the younger fighter, who easily "fatigues in the middle rounds quite often in most of his fights."

However, instead of exchanging words with the world-renowned trainer, Alvarez decided to prove himself inside the ring, per another article of the site.

"My words are most important November the 21st in the ring," Alvarez said.

"I do not like to talk. Let them think what they want...I feel I can do anything inside the ring. I can box, I can move, can box at mid-distance," said "Canelo" per another report from Boxing Scene.
