The highly anticipated new franchise of Marvel's "Spider-Man" movie is still a long way from hitting the theaters, but the new actor to play the famous web-slinger, Tom Holland, is already making it to the headlines. Recently, Holland shared how he landed the role, which involved his somersaulting skills.

Irish Examiner reported that Holland got his dream role of playing Spiderman using his gymnastic skills, which he also extensively used during his stint while playing Billy Elliot at London's West End from 2008 to 2010.

"I basically did a somersault into frame and a somersault out of frame and I was like, 'They may never see this but if they do I need them to know that I've got some gymnastics abilities and stuff," the 19-year-old actor revealed.

"And every tape I sent in I always did a little acrobatic demo to try and convince them to give me the role," he added.

Holland further said that upon finding out that auditions were going on for the new Spider-Man, he right away wanted to submit a tape as it was his dream role.

Holland revealed that when he was asked years ago which superhero he wanted to play, Holland said, "I, of course, said Spider-Man...I always wanted to play this character and when I found out that they were re-casting the role I rang up my agent and I said, 'Just get me a self-tape. Please let me send something so that they can see me.'"

As he waits for the filming to start with director Jon Watts, Holland reveals that he is very much excited to get to work. Holland also shares that Watts is not giving him all the details about the film "because he wants to only tell me ideas that they're gonna use. I just really can't wait to get to work," he said as quoted by the Associated Press.

Meanwhile, Holland will first be seen in the upcoming "Captain America: Civil War," which will premiere next year. Although he will be Peter Parker in the Marvel film, he won't be in the center plot as he will have his own lead movie when "Spider-Man" releases.

Before "Captain America: Civil War" hits theaters, Holland will also be featured in the upcoming Dec. 11 premiere of "In the Heart of the Sea" together with Chris Hemsworth, Irish Examiner reports.
